"If you don't like it, don't look at it"

The philosophy "If you don't like it, don't look at it". Is one of the dumbest philosophies that I have heard in a very long time.

Basically, those who follow this bullshit say that if you don't like or agree with something, you should ignore it or don't look at it. Well then, isn't that a "sunshine state" philosophy?

So hypothetically if they were to follow their own advice and lets say they make some art and someone criticized it. They would just not listen to them, now imagine if a government were to take this philosophy and enact it as policy, nothing would get achieved would it? The government would simply not listen to criticisms and would rule in a recklessly authoritarian way.

It also gives ignorant morons the excuse to be arrogant and be blissfully unaware of their painfully obvious faults.

I bring this up because on many occasions have those that I argued with told me this and others as well, and it is just so fucking stupid. I mean what is the reasoning behind this? Its like that "after school special" logic that tells you to ignore the bully and he'll "go away". I'm fairly certain that a good amount of people reading this post can attest that this is more often than not, not the case.

  1. that saying is to be taken with a grain of salt like many other sayings.
From personal experience i found that ignoring something is sometimes the best thing to do for different circumstances. I don't follow such a philosophy because it is quite barbaric. But for instance when Justin Bieber became popular. I went on every Justin Beiber related video i could find and flagged, trolled, 1 stared (Yes that old Yt rating system) each of his videos for quite a long time. And i literally grew tired of spewing such hate on the talentless teen, and realized being the "hatefilled" fellow wasn't the person whom i wanted to be and clearly was in the way of my productivity. But who am i to say what's right and what's wrong? Even if people believe in the mindless delusion that Jb is going to turn the corner and embrace them with a hug. Who am i to say they can't act like that Christian man down the street believing that god will catch him every-time he falls? We all take comfort in certain things differently. If we want to ignore something then we CAN decide to or not it depends on the circumstance. It's more or less to me just knowing the limitations of your self control and there should be more people with the common sense to do so. Like fighting that stupid drunk guy at the bar. Would you ignore him or choose to escalate the violence? I honestly wished more people used their minds more then their fists.
I think in some regard no one follows this. We just act on it, since i refuse to watch certain things such as the stupid 3 guys 1 hammer video. But in the end I've decided that. Not some shitty philosophy. Also being the artist that i am, some criticism can (rarely) be wrong. I don't know if this made much sense since this isn't my native language but i hope you somehow understood.

  2. Maybe you should follow that saying and just not look for or take notice of the fandom. The saying "If you don't like it, don't look at it" has nothing to do with how people should deal with critisism or even how ignoring things will make it go away. What it does mean is that if you don't like it don't keep looking at it. It's like looking though TV programs; if you get board of or dislike what your seeing switch channels.

Also, about this whole blog. I've read though a few posts and I can state that you need to review what your doing. I have no problems with people having an opinion and telling others about it but all you are doing is nit-picking at the worst possible sorces, writing bias rubbish about your "finds" and "research" and then shrugging off anyone who opposes you with poor reasons and arguments (and sometimes you do even make sence or even fail to relate to their reasons). I'd say thats pretty much the philosophy you just critisized right there, in action by you. Not only are you bias but your a hipocrit aswell.

    1. "The saying "If you don't like it, don't look at it" has nothing to do with how people should deal with critisism or even how ignoring things will make it go away." Actually as a philosophy, or look on life, it can apply to those things and it does for many, which is why I brought it up. So many of these idiots that I argue with use that as a counter, but it seems they do not follow it themselves. "It's like looking though TV programs; if you get board of or dislike what your seeing switch channels." Yes, but the people that follow this as a philosophy use it in a much broader spectrum. Otherwise it is just common sense, if I don't like a show about cars then I won't watch it.
"nit-picking at the worst possible sorces" Your ramblings have an undertone of a paranoid conspiracy. "worst possible sorces"? Let me guess, good sources would have only 'positive' information about the furfaggot fandom and any one who says anything negative or presents any 'bad' information is 'an ignorant hater blah blah blah'. "writing bias rubbish about your "finds" and "research" and then shrugging off anyone who opposes you with poor reasons and arguments" You want to know something interesting? I did a search through my blog and not once have the words "finds" or "research" come up in ANY of my posts to date. You know what I find strange about you and people like you? When you 'criticize' me and mine you provide no evidence, no examples, no facts, no sources, just dribble. Now I back up most of what I say and present with video, pictures, screenshots, quotes, etc. It isn't difficult so why do you not do the same? "Not only are you bias but your a hipocrit aswell." Biased? Wouldn't I need an agenda to be biased? What would I have to gain from this huh? My blog isn't even monetized. And think its funny how you twisted this so much to try to make me look like a "hipocrit" by saying I "shrugging off anyone who opposes you with poor reasons and arguments (and sometimes you do even make sence or even fail to relate to their reasons)." If I followed the damn philosophy like you're implying would I not be ignoring/deleting the very comment I am replying to? You do not seem to know what you're talking about let alone how to express it. Oh and I also want to introduce you to a concept known as irony. And a nice example of it would be you using high and mighty terms that you cannot even spell correctly.

    2. You make a good point and yes I have seen some evidence thoughout your blog that does back up some of what you say.
But the fact is all of your evidence comes from bias sources that don't look at the subject fully. Yeah, your videos, screenshots and quotes are all good evidence but they are also very narrow minded. And no, good sources arn't sources that only have a positive outlook on the subject. Good sources are ones that look at the subject as a whole which is something your evidence clearly lacks for the most part.

And by the way; how is my slight spelling problem ironic. That part fails to make sence.
